Our culinary training program combines hands-on kitchen experience with essential workplace skills to prepare students for successful careers.

14-Week Program

A comprehensive part-time schedule designed to accommodate various life circumstances and responsibilities.

Kitchen Fundamentals

Kitchen safety, sanitation, equipment handling, knife skills, and food storage practices

Cooking Techniques

Basic and advanced cooking methods including sautéing, roasting, braising, grilling, and baking

Food Preparation

Ingredient identification, mise en place, recipe reading and execution, taste development

Menu Planning

Nutritional considerations, dietary restrictions, seasonal cooking, and menu development

Quantity Food Production

Scaling recipes, batch cooking, and production planning for our community catering program

Professional Development

Workplace Readiness

Professionalism, punctuality, appropriate attire, communication skills, and teamwork

Financial Literacy

Budgeting, saving, banking, and financial goal-setting for personal and professional success

Our training philosophy emphasizes hands-on experience. Students spend approximately 75% of their time in practical, applied learning situations where they can develop muscle memory, build confidence, and refine their skills in real-world contexts.

Through our community catering program, students also gain experience in quantity food production while providing nutritious meals to local organizations addressing food insecurity.

Eligibility Requirements

Age Requirement

Candidates must be between 16-26 years old at the time of application.

Commitment

Ability to commit to the full 14-week program, attending all scheduled sessions.

Interest in Food Service

Genuine interest in pursuing employment in the food service industry.

Work Eligibility

Ability to complete W4 and I9 forms for stipend processing and employment.
